With A.P.Th. The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, Bartholomew, met on Saturday February 13, the members of the administration of the Group for UNESCO of the prefecture of Larissa, in order to inform him about one of his actions concerning the schools of Imbro, the Patriarch’s birthplace.
In the framework of the actions of the Education Sector, the Group, having on its side important sponsors, such as the Lambrakis Journalistic Organization, the Holy Diocese of Larissa and Tyrnavos, ALFA WOOD GROUP, and Kasidis SA, offered a library, worth 1000 euros, with 300 books of mainly literary content, educational games and table tennis at the Primary School of Imvrou.
In a welcoming and moving atmosphere, the members of the Group spoke at length about its actions, while the joint response of the Patriarchate and the UNESCO Group to the economic crisis experienced by the prefecture of Larissa, as well as the actions to highlight our cultural heritage, were discussed.
The Group was represented by the president dr. Theodora Kalla and the vice-president of the board of directors Taty Constantou and warmly thanks the director of the school Mr. Paraskevi Berberi, the founder of the school, Anna Koutsomali and the teachers Georgios Kotsibo and Tsiler Akboulout for their perfect cooperation.
